A good book – preferably something you’ve been putting off or need to be relaxed to really enjoy. I like autobiographies and self-help books whilst on holidays.
Lucas’s Paw Paw Balm – this powerful understated ointment has come in so helpful on so many occasions. Great for airplane travel for cracked lips and dry skin and then when on holiday works great for sunburn, mosquito bites and or cuts/pimples etc!
Bose sound cancelling headphones- A must when I travel. Great for layovers, planes, trains and or blocking out the commotion around you (weather plugged into music or not!)
A notepad/journal – I find when I travel my mind is more clear and I create room for creativity and the juices to flow again. I always buy a fresh new notepad or diary for holidays to document my ideas and make new creative to-do lists.
Vitamins – I always take a mini toiletry bag of vitamins and supplements to keep me in good health when I travel. There’s nothing worse than taking time to holiday and then getting sick. These are my non negotiables;
Melatonin to help aid jetlag
Daily multi vitamin or similar
Metamucil to help with fiber intake and always take whilst flying to aid in jetlag by keeping body regular.
Magnesium tablets for aches and pains and good quality sleep
Hydrolyte for hydration on long hauls (also handy if you pick up a wee gastro bug or Tummy bug)
Snack attack – I always pre pack my own snacks and or small meals for long hauls. Simply put I find plan food quite toxic and furthest thing from real good ( and I’m coeliac so it’s always a challenge) so I pack at least 1 full meal and then energy balls and or trail mixes.
Travel pillow. I have a mini foam memory chiro pillow that I take everywhere. (Yes in that person) I have a spinal injury history so for me comfort is king and they shit all over those neck pillows! Great for planes, trains and regularity when hotel hopping. There’s nothing worse than being on holiday and putting your neck or back out!
Podcasts! Preparation is key here, I download some good podcasts pre-flight to listen to on the plane – I never have enough time to get through full podcasts so I save them for traveling and they are a great time waster! I also have some meditations
